14mercy: Sounds
Love The Bomb

A lonesome midnight cowboy from many years ago
Could not imagine sounds of freedom from another stereo
But he stumbled on a speck of light
A mystery to unfold
A gateway to a rainbow
Brandishing a pot of gold
Happy Christmas, war is over
But be happy it begun
For it's the blood and sweat and tears
That engineered this mortal one
And I am sorry for the troubles
But I'm not sorry for existing
And I will not ask your pardon and I will not ask forgiveness
I turned to my reflection
I settled my dispute
Saw the devil handing Adam
A cursed tempting fruit
And I was terrorized and victimized
But scurrying along
And I began to stop my worrying and learned to love the bomb
To be amused by such illusions
To envision such a course
While I was roaring like a lion
Kicking down my hired horse
And there I saw it blindly sitting there on my front porch
It was turning like the wheels upon an Edsel
I was sitting in the middle of a little circus tent
With freakshows walking past me
And a wave of confidence
That could never measure up against the lonesome cowboys wits
But I was quick to tell them I am just a rebel
I severed my connection
Deployed my parachute
Jesus held me up for ransom
Apostles groveled for the loot
And I was compromised and ostracized
But certain to stay strong
And terminate my worrying
And learn to love the bomb
All the West Coast leeches
They gathered for the feast
To roast upon like buzzards
At a carcass' feet
And I just scoffed and was put off
To say the very least
And I was rolling like a stone amidst the thunder
Well she's so scholarly and worldly
And she's hoping to confess
The Taming Of The Shrew, The Tempest and MacBeth
But your Comedy Of Errors
Won't make me love you any less
It's your lies, my dear,
They really make me wonder
It's a common misconception
For princes and their fools
To show you what they think they know
By what they learned in school
But why follow any rules?
You've got melody and song
Please desist your precious worrying
And learn to love the bomb
No, I can't offer you protection
And my methods don't compute
But I've not asked you any questions
You can contest, disprove, refute
And the noose around my neck
I can't get loose I'm so far gone
But good news, I'm not worrying
I learned to love the bomb.
